This year the bid was awarded to Kanab Coal Co. To a degree it is local. A local man furnishes the coal, and pays local taxes, although the coal is brought in from outside the county. Actually oil which is burned in the courthouse is not produced in Kane County. Custodians have generally preferred northern coal because, they say, it gives more heat, and doesn't take as much coal to do the job required, along with oth- t CHYREL 644-505- 2 KAC3AIB OESDBBEl Small amounts of coal have been mined since pioneer days. In the early days there was some gold mining activity in the Paria region, but production was insignificant. In a report published by A. C.
