The Fredonia icout Mothers Organization put on a fundraising dinner in the Ward Cultural Hall last Thursday evening. About one half of the money to pay the Council dues was received from this dinner. The maintenance crew of the trick of keeping Hallofun for the youngsters is Fredonia High School Volley High School The FFA Deer Hunters Ball was a big success. Sharlene Lamb was chosen as the Sweetheart and her attendants were Toni Brinkerhoff and JoAnn Bolander. The girls were judged mainly on personality, poise, posture, beauty, and talent. The 30.06 rifle was won by Roger Goulding. There was a large crowd cf people and they danced to the music of The Ambassadors from St. George. The Buffaloes are looking forward to an eventful week. Wednesday the FHA will hold their initiation. All the freshmen will be initiated into the club and . then they will have a party af- terwards. The seniors have planned their Mascarade Ball for Friday. They have chosen Laurie" for their theme and are trying to find erie decorations for the gym. It sounds like it will be a great deal of fun if everyone comes in costume. The seniors have also started play practice. Every morning at seven they arrive at the school to start on them. The Fredonia Lynx, who are the best in the west, travel to Grand Canyon Friday to bring home their sixth consecutive victory. Fall Cleanup Suggested bv Harold G. We have had a real good growth of weeds and grass as a result of the rains we have had the past season. Many folks have been asking questions about earwig control and elm beetle control. I would like to suggest that everyone in Kanab get busy on a Fall clean-u- campaign. Lets remove all the weeds, grass and residue left in the gardens and Winyards. Earwigs spend the in boards piles of ter under debris. and trash, A good clean-u- p program will not only improve the looks of the communities, but also eliminates the number of insects for next year. or Chlordene poured around the trunks of elm trees will kill the elm leaf beetle larva coming down the trees. These larva if not killed will hatch into adults and enter homes and other protected places to spend the Winter. If these are eliminated they wont be available to infest the trees next year. D.D.T. And one of the most dangerous of th:se hazards is fire, according to the National Fire Protection Association. It urges parents to keep ? for their children with these important precautions: 1. Costumes should be labeled flameproof if purchased read mad'', or they can undergo a flameproofing process if made at home. NFPA cautions, however, that to be effective flameproofing must be renewed each time a costume la washed or gets wet, and that nearly any clothing material will burn to some extent. a costume, 2. In selecting avoid those with flimsy fabric, loose flowing sleeves, and voluminous skirts. Be especially wary of the traditional billowing robes of ghosts and witches, made of yards and yards of worn sheets which easily catch fire when whipped toward flames or sparks by the autumn wind. For added safety, make sure costumes are short enough so youngsters dont trip on them, and of light colors so masqueraders can easily be seen by motorists. 3.
