At Glen Canyon, Briggle vill succeed Gustav W. Muehlenhaupt, who was recently transferred to the National Park Services Planning and Service Center in San Francisco. Briggle began his career in the National Park Service as a pirk ranger at Theodore Roosevelt National Memorial Park, North Da Seqiio-:a-King- ; Virginia. In 4962, Briggle accepted a po sition as recreation resource specialist with the newly established Bureau of Outdoor Recreation of the U.S. Department of the Interior in Washington, D C. Three years later, he returned to the National Park Service, this time ns a special assistant to the director. He was appointed assNt-an- t superintendent of Lake Me d in November 1965.
