Announcement that the Utah Public Service Commission would hold a public hearing in Kanab on a travel franchise on July aked by the Kanab Development Corporation was made this week bv Norman Cram, chairman of the transportation committee of the organization. Mr. Cram met in Salt Lake last Friday with Irene Warr, attorney for the Corporation, who has filed the application for the group. It asks permission to pick up and haul passengers in an area of about 150 miles of Kanab. It is the purpose of the group to organize sightseeing trips to points principally in Kane County and other parts of Southern Utah and Northern Arizona. A taxi license has been granted the Corporation by Kanab City and an application is now before the city council for permission to haul passengers to and from the Kanab airport. Residents of Kanab have been talking about doing something specific in this field for four or five years, Mr. Cram said. It is good to feel that we are nearing the point of getting under way The fact that the hearing is being held in Kanab is a good indication that the permit will be granted, according to Forace Green, president of the Corpoia-tion- . While nothing is certain until it happens, the fact that the is Public Service Commission sending a man here to conduct the hearing is an indication that they feel the application is important, he pointed out. It will also give us an opportunity to present a much better case with personal witnesses than if we had to go to Salt Lake.
