According to the report. 769 percent of Utah's population of voting age voted in the last presidential election. This compares with a voting percentage 66 2 percent for the eight Mountain States, 66 0 percent for the eleven Western States, and 62 percent for the nation as a ion. . The Chamber urges anyone having extra rooms to rent by the night or longer, please call or come to the Chamber of Commerce building between the hours of 8 a m. and 9 p.m, and sign up. officers also said Chamber that they would like to call attention to recent ststements that have been set out for dues. They ask that those receiving same, please pay all or part at their earliest convenience, the dues are needed for worthwhile, projects of the Chamber of Commerce. Ellison of Fredonia, will be honor, ed Friday, June 25 in the Fredonia Ward Chapel, prior to his leaving 'for an LDS mission. Elder Ellison has been called to serve in the Netherlands Mission. The farewell testimonial will start at 8 p.m. He is a graduate of the Fredonia High School, class of end attended the University of Arizona at Tucson one semester. He has served in the U. S. In the 1960 general elections a total of 374,709 votes cat for president in Utah out of 467, 817 persons of voting age. The voting percentage in 1960 was 80 1 percent compared with 76.9 percent in 1964. Nationally, the percent of persons voting also declined from 63.5 percent in I960 to 62.0 percent in 1964, In Kane County, 1,089 per. sons out of a voting age population of '1,380 cast ballots in the 1960 presidential election for a voting percentage of 78 9 percent. Kjneral services were held at the Older-vill- e Ward Chapel, Monday June 14, at 11 a.m. Born in Orderville May 14, 1912,:Witma was the daughter of Ira H. and Emily Ecpiin A. dair. Although her activities were restricted from childhood by a heart ailment, she was an active Sunday School and Primary teacher for many years and served for some time as Kanab Stake Primary Secretary. For several years she was town Clerk In Orderville. Educated at the elementary school in Orderville and at Valley High School Wilma later attended Dixie College and Branch Agricultural College and took a business course In California. Left partially paralyzed by a stroke In 1947, she was confined to her home much of the' time, but she spent her time piecing quilts, doing exquisite handiwork and reading. An avid' and discriminating reader, Wilma was a vlgrous supporter of library service and was Instrumental in bringing the bookmobile to Kane County Her many hours of faithful service assisting the librarian regularly on Bookmobile visits was instrumental In providing service in the Orderville area. As long as her health permitted her to go to the bookmobile she rendered this service. During her long years of illness, Wilma won many friends through correspondence, through visits, and through her own cheerful spirit. A regular visitor at the nursing home responded to this quality of Wilma by writing the following verse: "There is a bright corner in Wilma's room; I saw it one rainy afternoon. In this corner was a candy cane and gum-dro- p tree; It made me very very happy you see. There sat Wilma In her wheel chair, but with a cheerful smile, It made me admire her and I felt better for a while. This year pool hours will be from 10, a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Plans have been made to have swimming lessons for all ages. . Commencing Saturday morning June 19, Miss Karen Hamblin will begin swimming instructions for children six years and under. We invite you to bring your children at this time. In conjunction with the 4th of July celebration, we will have swimming competition with prizes awarded. Further information concerning this in following issue.
