Fredonio news and current events By Ivis Fan- Seven hundred and forty two people registered for the free swimming in the first two days of oper- ation of the new Fredonia Town Swimming Pool, a spokesman for the Swimming Pool Committee said this week. Dedication of the oool was at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 1, with an estimated 300 people being present. Mayor Arland Brooksby gave a short history of the construction of the pool, and said that the first money donated was from a Fredonia School class some nine years ago. More than $14,000.00 cash has been necessary for the construction of the facility, and about $6,000.00 dollars worth of volunteer labor has been furnished by local citizens. The pool will be open for swimming at least for the next two weeks, with the hours of operation being 2:30 to 8 p.m. Members of the Swimming Pool Committee, Mesdames Arland Brooksby, W. E. Byrom, Darrell Lathlm, J. B. Jordan, and Robert Lukus, will be in charge of operation. Registered lifeguards will be on duty when he pool is open. Come out and swim in our pool at the Town Park.
