However, we feel that it surly is worthy of appearing this . week. Mr and Mrs Merrill Dame had a large home completely filled for Thanksgiving Holidays. Their guests were Mrs. Dames parents and their entire family. Her parents are Mr. and Mrs. Oscarxas-so- n of Birdseye, Utah The other guests were,' Dr. and " Mrs. Rex Hurst and four children from Logan. .Mr and Mrs Walter Inman and five children from Riverside, California. Mr. and Mrs Lynn Mitchel and two children from Dutch John, Utah. Mr. and Mrs Ward Lasson and two children from Birdseye, Utah. Richard was home from the University of Utah, so the Dame family was complete. Alecia Swapp joined the family for Thanksgiving Dinner as Richards guest. Thirty one people to keep well fed and comfortable for a few days is quite a big undertaking, but they say that they had a wonderful time, and its the first time for many years that the Lassons have had the whole family together at one time. -- Saturday, December 3rd The Young at Heart Marriedss of the North Ward met at Neil and Marie Crosbys home. About twenty-fou- r enjoyed an excellent lesson given by Wayne Rose. This group wishes - to remind all Yung Marrieds in the Stake to be looking forward to the Christmas Program which will be Do-- cember the 17th; so Young Marrieds of the Stake circle your calendar and make it a date. Merrill TtTTkracDonaldrmember ' the Kane County Commission, was named president of the Organization at their meeting in Kanab last Friday evening Mr. MacDonald, who has served the past two years as a member of the Kane County Commission, will succeed Rudger C. Atkin of St George, Washington County Pribr to his appointment as y Orgpresident of the anization, Mr. MacDonald served as a member of the roads committee for the organization. He is also chairman of the roads division in Kane County as a commissioner. Wayne Rose, Kane County Extension Agent was appointed secretary of the organization. Mr. MacDonald said that a treasurer would be named at a lator date. Under normal circumstances the Clerk of the County receiving the appointment as president would be Secretary and Treasurer. Mr. Rose in taking the appointment as secretary felt that another member should be appointed treasurer to help carry the work load. Following the business meetings of the various committees at the Courthouse, more than fifty members of the organization and nine persons from San Juan County met at Trails End Restaurant for a fine meal . and to hear Bud Phelps, assistant director of the Utah Fish and Game Department speak. ' The Organization is made up from the five counties of Kane, Garfield, Iron, Washington and Beaver. The Commissioners and Clerks "of the make up the officers for the group and members at large are invited to the meetings and as members. The nine persons visiting the meeting Friday night from San Juan County came to work out arrangements in getting a highway started from" Southeastern Utah into Southwestern Utah, a road s thatwould add greatly to both of the state. The Young Marrieds have been appointed to decorate the Christmas Tree that will be set up in the foyer of the Stake House, with Archer and Jennie Swapp acting as Chairmen of the group. Last Saturday evening The Ladies Literary League entertained their husbands at their monthly party. It was in the form of a Dinner and Card Party at the Parry Lodge. Abcut fifty people were there and spent an enjoyable evening. The South Ward Primary Officers and Teachers held their annual Christmas Party to honor their husbands, last Saturday the 3rd. Thirty Seven enjoyed a Chicken Dinner served on tables beautifully dcorated with the festive Christmas theme. They played games and listened to an interesting program. Hinckley, Utah. Alton Uovs Items Utah Looks Hopeful PAGE ARIZ. A proposal to allow Utah students to attend school in Page was made Tuesday at a joint meeting of Utah and Arizona school officials. A formal agreement presented by Rowland G. Robinson, a representative of the Utah attorney generals office, asked that the Coconino County, Ariz., board of supervisors permit Utah children of public school age whose parent were employed at the Glen Canyon Dam, to attend school in Page The students would be limited 0 Glen Canyon City, Church Wells, and their immediate environs,' the proposal said. At the same time the Kane County Board of Education would agree to pay Coconino County all actual current per capita operatschool ing costs for the 1960-6year. To be deducted, however, woulc be the amount of financial aid received by the county from the state of Arizona and transportation costs. The bottleneck, which has prevented Utah students from attending school in Page in the past has been the discrepancy between the cost of education in the two counties.
