The foregoing facts being true, your Chamber of Commerce has deemed it advisable to adopt the following policy with regard to future movies production business in Kanab: 1. Chamber of Commerce will no longer accept a passive role with regard to the procuring of movie productions in this area, but will actively solicit the use of Kanab as a location site and cooperate fully with any production company using the area, both from the standpoint of public relations and from the standpoint of aiding and assisting them in procuring the necessary props and labor supply. 2. We will recognize no minority group as spokesman for the community until such time as such group has authority so to act by virtue of the investment of such authority by the voteiof the majority of ALL the people in Kanab and the surrounding trade community, 3. We will cooperate with, and support, any agent, contact) man, or official, or groups or such men, representing any production company and assist them in fulfilling the companys needs. 4. We will not deviate from suctr policy except upon the vote of the majority of the MEMBERSHIP of the Chamber of Commerce indicating that it is their desire and will to make such a deviation. It is our sincere belief that the policy as herein stated is to the best interests of Kanab and its surrounding trade area. It is our further belief that this policy is the only policy that will salvage" a dying movie industry and once again bring Kanab on front 4. Our observance and analysis makes the following facts self evident: 1. The movies making industry is not affected to any appreciable extent by Utahs tax laws. This fact is evidenced by the fact that in the past year two huge productions haye been made in Utah (at locations other than Kanab) in spite of Utahs Movie Tax Law. 2. That the Kanab area is ideal for outdoor type pictures' and, barring internal difficulties, is a desirable location for commovie making panies seeking ' sites. 3. Soon everyone will have had the disease. Mr. and Mrs. Arden Baird and family spent the week end in Richfield, visiting at the Irene Baird home. Dave Foote left Sunday morning on th bus. to visit with his sons in northern Utah. He first will visit with his son. Dr. Leonard Foote, and family in Spanish Fork. Mr. and Mrs. La Veil Chamber-lai- n and sons of Cedar City visited here and in Kanab Saturday. Our basketball boys met defeat Saturday night when they played their first game in Mesquite, Nevada. They lost by only five points and we are looking forward to some very good ball games this year from these lads. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Talt and family went to. Richfield to meet their son Lane, who Is employed in Salt Lake City, and to visit for awhile. They visited with the Ken Chamberlains among others.
