At the pep assembly all of the senior boys on the football team got up and said something about the game they were going to play. Unfortunately, despite the wonderful spirit our boys seemed to have, we lost. So now the basketball season is coming up. The games will start about the middle of Nov. We hope that when they do, we have, more participation thair at our football games. Lets see you all there. Monday was the game with the Alumni, in which the Alumni won 26 to 6. Some of the Alumni that were there were: Louis Chatterley, David Shrum, Wayne Heaton, Wendell Heaton and our new game warden. Drew Moren, a popular senior is leaving us. He is moving to Page to be with his parents. We wish him the best of luck, Wednesday a group from Salt Lake Educational Board came down to discuss the possible accrediting of our High School. If they do it would mean a better chance for all of our students. We had a very mild Halloween with only soaping and waxing of a few windows. Students volunteered to clean windows. Douglas Young Is Buried In Kanab Monday Funeral services were held in Kanab Monday, November 3, 1958 for Alfred Douglas Young, 68, who died from a heart attack October 31 at 4 a.m. at his home in Kanab. Born September 14, 1890, he was a son of Adolphia and Zelpha Lewis Young. He married Ruth Riggs in 1914. He served as City Marshal here and at the time of his death was serving as City Cemetery caretaker. He had lived in Kanab most ""of his life. Survivors are one son, Clyde R., Kanab two daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Y. Mace, Kanab and Mrs. June Y. Elbertson, Henderson, Nev.; thirteen grandchildren, one two sisters, Let-ti- e Y. Swapp, Kanab and Fannie Y. Lundquist, Santa Ana, Calif. Services under direction of Bishop Isaiah Meeks were: Opening song, Guide Me To Thee by choir. Lester Johnson offered the opening prayer. Frank Johnson spoke. LeRoy Judd sang a solo Going Home accompanied by Elva Judd. Sentiments, written by Leah M. Jackson, were read by Leone J. Judd. Clifton Young spoke on the life of the deceased with the choir singing Rest For The Weary Soul with Neil Crosby closing with prayer. According to Mr. MacDonalds father here, Graham was operated on Wednesday, and it is believed that he will recover in the near future. It was found that a duct leading to the eye had developed a leak and fluid was running into the eye. Mr. MacDonald will be confined to his, bed and must remain on his back for several weeks in order (for the injury to heal. the-onl- California Man By Lumber Truck Joe J. Williams, 41, Mojave, Calif., was crossing the highway on State Road 17, 10 miles east of St. George when hit by the truck belonging to Kalbab Lumber Co., according to Trooper Julian B. Fox of the Highway Patrol. According to Trooper Fox the car in which Mr. Williams had been riding ran out of gas four miles north of the accident scene. Mr. Williams caught a ride with a California couple driving south. They let hini 'but'at the Junction of U.S. Highway 91 and 17. Mr. Williams discovered that the service station there was not open and started walking back across the highway when the lumber truck turned off 91 and struck Mr. Williams. Mr. Sorenson said he saw Mr. Williams in his lights when he turned and attempted to avoid hitting him, but that Mi. Williams ran directly into his path. The victim was carried nearly 100 ft. by the truck. But this is what happened to Mr. and Mrs. A. I. McDonald Tuesday night on Mrs. McDonalds first deer hunt. The couple were returning from a leisurely weekend motor trip through Wolf Creek Pass above Heber when Mrs. McDonald spotted the buck in the trees off the side of the road as they were driving. Mr. McDonald, a veteran hunter, got out and circled up the mountain behind him. By watching carefully through the thick trees, he waited to shoot the deer without ruining the meat and finally chanced a shot into the ribs. Mrs. McDonald was sure the deer was lost for good when she saw him bound through the trees but Mr. McDonald knew he had wounded him and they found him camouflaged among a group of large logs, The deer is a big beauty which weighed 229 lbs.
