Show . SOUTHERN UTAH NEWS Page Six From Our Readers Letters To Editor , r r asking you to publish the letter as written. Up to the present time, nothing has been printed in the S U.N. I would appreciate a letter by return mail or the reason. Our plans and specifications were approved by your Mayor and Council, but was told to consult the City Engineer (not a resident of Kane county), for approval of water line from city limits. Was told by City to install 10 water main. This sie line Is now supplying our city of 20,000 people with plenty of water and I only asked for a 2 2" water line to be installed, at my expense, of course. Was informed no more private lines would be permitted or any other. A 10 water main would be the only line, regardless of who wanted it. But see where the city is installing a 2 water line to Airport. (How come?) Yours truly, Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Sylvis 1841 E. Verdugo Ave. La Habra, Calif. I am speaking now about Sen. Arthur V. Watkins and Glen Canyon Dam. . Why did Watkins team up with the two Senators from Arizona and put the town of Page on the east side of the river? Access to the west side was several months ahead of the east side, and I understand now that the Bureau of Reclamation is several months behind schedule. Would this have been the case if the town had been put where it was originally planned before politics got into the act??? Why did the Senior Senator from Utah, who says he has so much power back in Washington, let the State of Arizona take land from the Indians and give Utah land to the Indians in exchange, when the State or Arizona already owned the choice townsite on the west side of the river? Requests That TIIAII YOU Another reminder for hunters to return their special permit deer cards has been issued by the Utah Department of Fish and TIIIIIK! Game. The cards are issued with each special permit deer tag. They are postage-paid- , and require only a few moments to properly fill them out before being dropped in the mail. Information compiled from these cards plays an important part in the departments management program and in setting future hunts. Spokesmen noted that by returning the card, the holder fulfills an opportunity to aid in the management program. Latest reports from the Santa Clara checking station show 17,408 deer going through that station to date. Records show the number of deer checked to be more than a thousand over the total number in all of 1957. The contract for the airport was bid and let on the west side, but this was sidetracked and millions of dollars of your money was spent in switching over to benefit the Voters If lha Congress , your money and scatter it all over the world, as voted by Mr. Watkins and supported by the Democratic Party, there will be no more money for reclamation in Utah or anywhere else in the United States.
