BY LA VAR RICHMAN -- Utah cattlemen should be quite encouraged by the advance in cattle grub control, states Dr. George F. Knowlton, Extension entomologist at Utah State University, Logan. The new treatments are in the form of systemic insecticides, which are applied in either of.. 2 forms (1) fed to animals as large pills (Trolene Voluses) or (2) sprayed on the skin of the animals, where it is soon absorbed into the body The two new organic insecticides benefit the cattle most if they are applied in the fall, Dr. Knowlton reminds. Applications should be made soon after cold weather has killed off the last of the cattle annoying heel flies and "bomb flies. Cattle grujjs of all sizes are destroyed by these insecticides which reach to all parts of the body. At the same time cattle lice control is a special bonus benefit received from using the spray. The internal Trolene application also tends to keep lice down, and, in addition, it controls two kinds of internal worm parasites common in catrecent-conspicuou- Miss Barbara Anderson who is employed at Salt Lake City visited relatives and friends here the past weekend.
