The Supervisors said that would be a question to be decided later. If the private interests construct the road to county standards, then they may ask the Supervisors at a later date for the county to assume maintenance, the Supervisors said. The businessmen, some of them reported connected with The Sands Hotel in Las Vegas, have told county officials they plan to build a resort on the Griffin ranch near Lees Ferry. Kelley Jains Dr. Ahead As Planned Jan. 3rd All Christmas trees offered for sale, sold or given away must bear a suitable Christmas tree tag according to Utah Law., William J. Hart, Deputy State Forester, said- members of the State Foresters staff expected to make actual field checks during season to check the compliance with the requirements of the law. He Indicated that complaints would be signed against those persons possessing trees without proper tags. Mr. Hart noted that lack of personnel had hindered such enforcement action in the past and that a considerable number of trees had been Illegally cut from public and private lands in Utah. The majority of cutters, wholesalers and retailers in Utah are' honest men and handle only legally obtained trees, he continued. As usual, the State Board of Foresty is interested in those individuals who deliberately steal trees. Board of Foresty regulations require the tag to be affixed before the trees are taken from the area In which they are cut. Therefore truckers carrying untagged trees are also liable. The law also indicates that all vendors of Christmas trees must show, by legal subdivision, the lands from which Christmas trees were cut and the vendor is required to show source of supply. Mr. Hart indicated that after a crimnal complaint had been lodged against offenders, those who could not showlegal possession of the trees would be subject to confication. All wholesalers, retailers and the public in general are urged not to accept Christmas trees without tags. Federal tags and X'endors' tags from other states do not require Utah State Christmas tree tags. All other trees must have a Utah Christmas tree tag affixed to the tree. Any person who buys a tree without a tag runs the definite risk of purchasing stolen property. - pre-holid- Kanab Girl Plans December 2 1 si Rites Charnelle McAllister, Miss daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Boyd McAllister of Kanab, and Mr. George Manson, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. George Manson of Mo-aUtah have set December 21st as the date they will recite wedding promises In Kanab.
