ENJOY A SPAIII1ISH October 12, 1957 mmm Ernie Allison and the Ely taprovenesl Courses Eleven school teachers from Kane County School district will Conference for attend a the Improvement of Reading on Wednesday and Thursday, October 9 and 10, in Salt Lake City. Director of the conference will be Dr. Emmett A. Betts, director of the Betts Reading Clinic, Haverford, Pennsylvania. Dr. Betts is acknowledged as the leading authority in reading programs in the nation. He .will be assisted by Carolyn Welch, supervisor at the clinic. Teachers from Kanab who will be attending are Eva O. Peterson, SharleneTohler, Fawn Robinson, RGene Bunting, and Lois W. Swapp. From Valley there will be Marion A. Young, Margaret Chamberlain, Hugh Chamberlain, and Burton O. Rust, and from Alton, Martha Roundy and Alton Heaton. The conference, which is sponsored by the Utah Education association, will draw participants from all parts of the state. The program will consist of demonstrations by Dr. Betts and members of the Betts staff, using Utah school children to help teachers discover , and treat reading problems. The full afternoon on Thursday, October 10, will be devoted to phonics. The purpose of the Conference, according to Allan M.
