Quote. fevs Weekly Holes Earl Spendlove Monday of this week, we got tome extra help. Kent Pugh of Kanab will be working with us this summer as a student Train- ee. I think most of you know Kent. He graduated from the Kanab High School In 1956 and has spent the past winter at the College of Southern Utah. Kent played basket ball In both high school and College and has taken part In many school activl-- , ties. The program he is working under is one which the Soil Conservation Service uses to get help during the busy peroids of the year It gives prospective employees a chance to see how the Service operates, and of course it gives the Service a chance to see how the individual operates. It is good for both parties. we are glad to have Kent with us and we are sure he will be a lot of help to us. I dont like to keep harping on one subject, but the concrete ditch being put in by Merrill Robinson, Charlie Whipple, and on the Chamberlain; Cloyd Chamberlain farm is worth talking about. Its worth seeing too. They gave out last week and took a "farmers rest", but this week they are at it again. Merrill thinks shaping and shoveling concrete is mighty hard work and has "invented" several gadgets to make things easier. One will shape the ditch. (All they have to do is throw the dirt out) One smoothes up the shaped ditch, and the third pours the concrete and smoothes it down. They havent tried these, things yet, but plan to when Merrill gets to putting in his ditch. I for one will be anxious to see how they work. I have always been interested in seeing,, things that tend to eliminate these Mexican dragAnv-wa- lines. It dosent matter how ditches are put in, Just so they meet the specifications. Your Soil Conservation District will be glad to tell you how the ditch should look when It is finished. You can put it in any way you want, but before you start, let us talk things over with you. , then it doesnt take Aesops Fables to remind us that what we enjoy in the future comes Bui from what we lay aside during our most Stnokey Sayst prpduc-fiv- e years.
