Regular license early season hunts that may appeal to sports men who cannot get out dur ing the general season beginning October 20, are set for the Blacks Fork, La Sal, San Juan Mt. deer herd and Vernal-Bluareas. Utah law requires a person to be sixteen years, or more, of age and to possess a big game or combination license before hunting big game or applying for any type of big game permit. The department said releases covering the hunting season and regulations governing them will be issued periodically. Sportsmen were reminded, however, to avail themselves of the proclamations covering the big game hunts. The proclamations list all rules, special I regulations, and season dates for each hunt. They will be available in early August from license agents or at department of fish and game offices. e Kanab Visitors Slale And Ccnnly Are Establishing Soil Gcnscrvalisn It's done, and everyone in Mt. Carmel can heave a sigh of relief. For almost a month now Mt. Carmel residents and contractor, Tom Proctor, have held their breath for fear a flood would come down the creek and cover ud or wash out the partly completed diversion dam. On July 23, the structure together with streambank protection work that was part of the overall project was officially accepted and the necessary papers will be turned to the Agricultural Conservation Program and the Utah Water and Power Board this week. As the most of you know, the engineering on this prolect was furnished by the Soil Conservation Sendee. The Utah Water and Power Board loaned the Irrigation Company the money, without interest, to install the diversion. Now that the project is completed, the Agricultural Conservation Program will assist by paying about half the total rost. Structures such as this one, and the one recently installed at Orderville are going to benefit several generations, and as our population increases, we are going to need all the farm products that we can produce. So, if we are to remain a strong nation, and if we are to maintain our present standard of living, our country and our state cannot afford to let our farmers go out of business, nor can they let our land and our water be wasted.
