The Great Pumpkin is no longer just a figment of Linus imagination. Charlie Brown and the gang would be very impressed if they were to visit Gordon Tanners garden in Kaysville this time of year. Pumpkins arent just pumpkins anymore and Tanner his super-sizin- g enjoys Halloween fun by growing Dill Atlantic pumpkins. The Dill Atlantic, which is patented by Howard Dill, is the biggest breed of pumpkin and can reach weights of more than 1,000 pounds. The current world record is 1,385 pounds grown by Steve Daletas in the Pacific Northwest. Tanner takes his hobby very seriously and spent much of the past summer pampering his precious patch. He has been growing giant pumpkins since 1998, but this seems to be his best year yet and he may have not one, but three, contenders to break Utahs giant pumpkin record currently held since 2001 by Bruce Orchard, of Bountiful, for his 7775-lb- . whopper.
