Bonnie Gomez, 38, and her daughter called for help on a cell phone just before 2 p.m., saying they were up a canyon without food or water. The two were exhausted and needed help getting down. They told deputies they were unfamiliar with the area. At 3:30 p.m. KUTV offered its helicopter. The pilot was able to give search and rescue personnel an idea of where the pair were. Searchers found the daughter first. She was able to walk out with help. Bonnie Gomez was located about 45 minutes after the girl was found. She was weak, dehydrated and exhibited signs of heat exhaustion. Life Flight was called to hoist her out.
