Throughout great morning assembly was a race between the Blue Team and the Red Team (two members on each team dressed in capes of their team colors). Flier did toad racing (with computers and large screen) and whipped cieum pie throwing among other things. The wining team which was determined b student applause was the Red Team. Bringing more cheer to the morning was the school cheerleading team. wearing their colorful green and white outfits, as they performed on stage and the school football stars as they graced the stage inspiring more screaming and applauding. The chosen 1999 homecoming song. "Chances Are.' was sung by Vaden Thurgood and Heather Rudd with Breta Crosby accompanying them on the piano. Homecoming Royalty (announced al the school lootball gamejfor 1999 has two queens for the year. There was a tie between I n. Newey and Ashley Jepperson. Tire two attendants are Shannon I Ianscn. Kay dee Wear er. Prior to homecoming assembly, about 200 students participated in Clearfield High Mud Dav. "We're very pleased and proud that the number of Adv anced Placement tests taken by our students increased significantly and that the number of students who passed increased too. Maybe it's wonderland and Alice will be there to greet them. However it is described, Bluff Ridge the Elementary School in Syracuse is definitely an inviting school for elementary students. Anyone can leam the alphabet before they enter the school if they just study the blocks across the front of the school building. Or they can leam to count if they study the blocks across the back of the school building. This is a fantastic school with an incredible staff said Chris McCoy Beatty, vice principal and fifth grade "We have 920 students teacher. enrolled now with more being enrolled daily? Beatty' said with the community growing she expects many more students before the end of the year. This is definitely a children friendly school, Principal, Michael Venable said. Venable said he is excited to be the principal of such a school. I iim looking forward to many good things happening here?! he said. Bluff Ridge Elementary has three very colorful computer rooms. One used by first and second graders, one used by third and fourth graders, and one for the fifth and sixth graders. The school library extends a friendly invitation to students with its colors and openness - having windows on two sides. It is located between the two front entrances and is clearly marked on the outside of the school building. Unlike most elementary schools that have lunch period and then recess.
