The student committee, appointed by SUUSA President Jason White, had committed at the previous meeting to have a draft of the questionnaire intended to gauge student input about the housing situation ready by the next meeting, but failed to do so. "We didn't know exactly what you wanted, so we wanted to ask you one more time," Baldwin told Sterling Church, vice-president for student affairs and task force chair. Church told Baldwin the task force wanted the committee to put it together in such a way as to "find out what students want the administration and developers to know." Baldwin's committee has committed to complete a draft of the study to deliver before the taskforce chair for today's meeting. Before the questionnaire can be circulated, Provost Terry Alger must approve of and sanction the survey. Collier said she plans to reach "500. 1000 students, easy." The study will be coordinated though student government, the Greeks and resident living. "I am concerned that non-traditional tudents will not be fairly represented in the study," Collier said during the meeting. Later she said that giving the survey to resident living would negligibly affect the results. "We feel that it will not make much of a difference because we plan ro give the sutvey to a large overall population by having students truce it during class blocks." Church asked for the study to be no more comprehensive then for it to be taken in five minutes. "The administration has decided to let the private sector basically take over the housing needs of our students. They can do it and they are doing it," said Church. O ne thing the study will aim to determine is whether students would rather live on or off campus. In the past students have looked to campus subsidiied housing in part because it costs less. "It just won't be possible to live on campus for less ever again," said. Mark Barton, assistant vice-president of student services. The task force noted there are still 26 couples residing in Oak Hall, the married student housing complex slated to be tom down in June. "We are continuing to work closely with those tudents," said Barton. He also mentioned that if the administration had to go about closing Oak Hall again, they would do it differently.
