All You Beed Is l'UDGII TO-BE ACCOUNTANTS WIN FELLOWSHIPS: Two SU graduate students, Jennifer Beck and Jace Bunting, received fellowships to work for six months each on the staff of Utah Sen. Orrin Hatch. Bunting left last week for his fellowship, and will complete his master's degree at SU next year. Beck will complete her degree this spring, then leave for Washington, D .C., in June. They will each receive $1 ,000 stipends plus room and board while working on Hatch's staff doing tax research and working with subcommittees on tax legislation. African-Americans to be Convo topic Ronald Coleman will present "Deep Roots : The Evolution of African-American Christianity" at today's 11 a.m. Convocation. The Convocation is a prelude to a series of February activities that will recognize Black History Month at SU. Coleman's topic ties in with the theme of Black History Month, "The Role of Music in the African-American Church." A specialist in African-American history, Coleman earned a bachelor's degree in sociology at the University of Utah where he now teaches as an associate professor of history. Coleman is also the vice president for diversity and faculty development at the U of U and has been its director of ethnic studies for the past 10 years. He frequently lectures on African-American history topics as diverse as Martin Luther King, Jr., or the role of black soldiers in the development of the American West. Coleman is also a regular panelist/moderator and has chaired the "Minorities and National Development" panel at the International Conference on Inequality and Development in 1987.
