The competition w held at H. Roe Brade Hall and Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Mo. , on June 28. Patrick Thompson, a medical student at was elected a · the national po t-secondary president of kills U A, and i respon ible for more than 250,000 kills U A member nationwide. Jared Hummel , an electronic major, earned a fir t·place gold me::daJ in electronic application (fV, VCR, DVD , diagnosis and repair) . Travi Young , a technology education major, earned a ·ecood-place ilver medal in principle of technology (an applied physics demon tration). Jim Eves, a criminaJ justice major, placed in the top 10 percent of the competitors in a very difficuit law enforcement competition. All winner received medallions. Often, they will al o receive tool f . their trade and/or scholarships to further their car ers and du ation. The kills A Championship are for high school and college-level tudents who are membe f kill u A-VJ A . More than ,000 tudents from every tat and three territories competed in 72 contests in technical , killed and service occupations, including for the first time this year, health occupations . In order to qualify for the national competition , the students competed in local and tate conres . The gold medal winners in tah' rate onte t advanced to the national Skills U A Championships.
