'Mo t students take these classes for fun. They are enjoyable and appeal to the young and young at heart," said Tessa Wilkin, smdent assistant for Durfee and a sophomore from Panaca, ev. The courses offered by the chool this sun1mer are Guitar Instruction, Mountain Biking, Horsemanship, EMT courses, TNT Kickboxing, Karate courses, Ballet, Tap Dancing, Airbru h , P rtfolio Creation and a Creative Writing Conference. Durfee has aid that the EMT course i "phenomenal." The instructors are Clayton and Vickie Allred and chey have ~many years of experience a paramedics," said Durfee. The horsemanship course is taught by Howard Mills-Peet, who was head trainer at Michael Jackson ' ranch , has owned_and managed other · trdining facilities and has received numerous awards and recognitions for bis work with arabians and other horse breeds. ~ "I took the class with my daughter and the in tructor was phenomenal," said Durfee. The dance and guitar programs are also very good and popu4r. "For the spring 2001 emester, we had more than 130 tudents in th guitar and dance programs, " said Durfee. Durfee said that the school seeks th most quality instructors. "Right now, we have a great group of supe::r instructors. And , in these classe , they have robe good o r they don 't gel enrollment. They ar optional classes, not required, and the instructors have to be all the mor on the ball to retain students, " said Durfee. And, the chool is aJways looking for new and quality instructors. "If omeone wants to teach, we welcome them to come and talk with us. But, they have to convince us that they can do it and how their capabilities. We want our courses to be good, we want the instructors co be tudentoriented and we want them to be willing 10 spend time with it and learn," aid Durfee.
