Several personal and school records were set. Junior Anna Bullock broke the school record in the hammer throw with a mark of 159-2, which placed her 13th overall. . Freshman Kassandra Harrell has broken the school's shot put record at every outdoor meet so far this season. At this meet, Harrell threw 46-1 1/2, which placed her sixth in the overall competition. Senior Gjaison White broke his personal record in the javelin with his throw of 173-6. He placed ninth overall. Sophomore Stephanie Garr broke the school record with her height of 10-8 in the pole vault. Garr also broke her personal record in the heptathlon with 44.7 points. Theresa Rice, Jandee Hood and Robyn Truman all topped their personal best times in the women's 1,500-meter. Rice (4:31 .70) crossed the line finishing fifth, Hood (4:48.15) finished 26th and Truman ' (4:52.66) finished 30th. The men's 1,500-meter proved successful for Southern Utah as well. Adam Brown, Chuck Hackenheimer and Jay Clyde all broke their personal records. Head Coach Eric Houle said Brown's time of 4:00.62 ranks him among the top five runners in the Mid-Con Conference. Junior Mark Wright (3:53.22) was the first runner across the line for SUU, finishing 11th. Houle said although Wright's time is not record-breaking, it is incredible because this was only-the second meet of the season. James Finks and Marques Rose broke their personal records in the 400-meter dash. Finks finished 12th in 47.66 seconds, just .02 seconds shy of the school record set back in 1977 by Manuel Deason. Rose finished 29th with his time of 48.94. Chandice Richards replaced her personal record in the 100-meter dash with her new time of 12.86. Houle and Arizona State are debating the outcome of the 5,000-meter. Houle said Jody Benson finished fourth and Curtis Moore finished fifth in the event. However, NAU said Benson finished seventh with a time of 14:50.57 and Moore finished ninth with a time of 14:54.47. Assistant Coach Layne Richards participated unattached in the decathlon.
