Southern Utah's men's team posted a 13-17 record last year with a 6-8 mark in Mid-Continent Conference play for a fifthplace finish Those were the team's best marks since winning the American West conference title 1n 1995-96 at 15-13 overall and 5-3 in league play. The women had a 16-12 overall record last season. including an S..6 record in the Mid-Continent Conference, finished tied for third in the league and reached the semi-final of the Conference tournament. Returning starters for the men include senior swmgmen Jim Faulkner (a twoyear starter) and Tyson Hancock. as well as junior point guard Jeff Monaco, the Mid-Continent Conference's top returning scorer (league games) and assist man The women return their three top rebounders from a year ago. Leading the charge is senior co-captain Melissa Hines, who led the team and the MidCon m rebounding with a 9 5 rpg average. The 6-2 center started 1n 27 games a year ago and averaged 10.9 ppg, had 10 double-doubles and was named the conference's Player of the Week three times, the most of any player. Junior forward Sarah Pratt provided solid scoring and rebounding a season ago She was fourth on the team in sconng with a 10 5 ppg average and was second in rebounding at 8 5 boards a game.
