Despite the runners suffering from fatigue, coach Eric Houle said that the teams ran strong at Saturday's meet in San Diego. The men placed second and the women finished fifth at the San Diego State Invitational. The men beat UC Irvine, Sacramento State and University of San Diego. Arizona was the only school that could beat the harriers. According to Houle, the men had their sights set on beating Arizona. Senior Jody Benson placed second out of 64 runners with a time of 25:11 . In last week's neet, Benson hada time of 24:45. Junior Mark Wright, 25:27, placed seventh overall. Junior Curtis Moore, 25:49, placed eighth. Junior Zak James placed 11th, crossing the finish line with a · score of 26:00 The women upset University of California at San Diego, SAC State, USC and USO. Arizona, UCLA, UC Irvine and San Diego State were the schools that placed higher than the Southern Utah women. Freshman lllene Dixon was the top female runner for SUU. She placed 28th overall and ran with a time of 19:05. Sopt'lomore Robyn Adams, 19:13, came in right after Dixon, placing 29th. Sophomore Jandee Hood, 19:30, placed · 33rd overall.
