Thus far, ' now College has has spent S10,000 to install Internet censoring software designed 10 hlock access to, among ocher things, naked people. This action gave the college the distinction of being the first pubhc college or university in the state to attempt to formally censor cyberspace. Like SUU, Snow has had problems with its computer network becoming hogged down with nonaodemic usage of the lnccrncc , including computer • games. This situation was cited as a reason for the ban , as well as a "pornograph y problem" that had emerged on the now campus. The proposed legislation would requir e Utah's other public colleges and universities to im,tall similar socalled " nanny" softwar e packages that kick Internet users out of sites that contain ostensibly obscene material.
