Luth wants t o k·e ep activities. fire burning ( couti11ued from page 1) "These are two acts that have been p opular with SUU students for quite some tjme, and we we re excited to be able ro bring them down (from Salt Lake City) for Welcome Week." Students left their beds unusually early on Saturday morning to participate in the volleyball tournament scheduled. "We had a tremendous showing," said Luth . "I think this also shows the diversity in our activities; with something more sports oriented, you get a lo t of different people to come out and participate." For the fi rst time, tJ1e Utah Shakespearean Festival has overlapped with SUU's fall semester. Luth has worked with the Festival's marketing department to turn this into an advantageous situation for students. "We were able to get 300 tickets to Joseph and sell them to the students at a discounted price of $10. We sold all 300. " The week also included numerous informational resources. "We put together a pamphlet called ' 101 Things to Do in Cedar City' and have had student government an? the Presidential Ambassadors manning information booths to help out new students with any questions. " "We couldn' t be happier about the way this week turned out," said Luth. "The reason it was so successful was because the people came. We received so much help from all of student government, which is a direct result of a unified organization. It hasn' t just been stude nt government , though. The key is involving students. We have already had help from so many students, both new and returning. " "That this week was so successful will only keep the fire going for other focus weeks," Luth said. -~ STAB, we have many plans to stimulate and continue excitement about SUU and the activities we hold."
