Show THE ARTS AND ENTERTAINMENT Life works on display in Braithwaite gallery ROGER EBERT FILM REVIEW 'Wedding Singer' delivers same old boring love plot The Wedding Singer tells the story of yes, a wedding singer from N ew fersey, who is cloyingly sweet at times and a cruel monster at others. The filmmakers are obviously unaware of his split personality; the screenp lay reads like a collaboratio n between Jekyll and Hyde. Did anybody, at any stage, give the stoiy that slightest thought? The plot is so familiar the end credits should have issued a blanket "thank you" to a century of love-corns. Thiough a torturous series of contrived misundezstandings, the boy and girl avoid happiness for most of the movie, although not as successfully as we do. It's your basic off-the-shelf formula in which two peop1e fall in love, but are kept apart because (a) they're engaged to creeps, lb) they say the wrong things at the wrong times and [c) they get bad information. It's exhausting, seeing the characters work so hard at avoiding the obvious. Adam Sandler is the wedding singer named Robbie. He's engaged to a slut who stands him up at the altar. Julia, played by Drew Bazrymore, meanwhile is engaged to a macho monster who brags about how he's cheating o n her. Selections from Josef Albers' "Formulation: Articulation," a study of the theory of color, is currently on display at the Sandler and she meet because she's a Braithwaite Fine Arts Gallery, and waitress at the weddings where he sings. We will continue thiough March 27. "Formulation: Articulation" is know immediately they are meant for each other. Why do we know this? Because we are the title of an overview of Albers' conscious and sentient. It takes them a lot lifetime work on theories of color longer. and form. And why even mention that the movie is set in the mid- of 66 silkscreen prints in 39 1980s and makes a lot of mid-1980s frames selected from references that are supposed to be funny but " Formulation: Articulation." sound exactly like lame dialogue? And what '1osef Albers was one of this about the curious cameos by faded stars and century's most influential and inexplicably cast character actors?
