P i 0 IN EVERY si DEPARTMENT f i Bail 'ijK Recently I mixed up a batch of our favorite spaghetti sauce and foigot how good it was and how many compliments it alwavs gets until we invited some friends over for dinner The recipe comes direct from a real Italian family and should be made well in advance of dinner time, letting it simmer slowly to blend all the falvors This recipe makes quite a hit and all vnu need to do is frepze the extra to use at a later date It s so good and easy, that I usually even double the recipe for an extra big batch Wl 4 Sauce Spaghetti 'i lb bacon, chopped 2 c finely chopped onion 6 garlic cloes linley chopped l'j cups dry red wine (Paisanos workes good) 5 t oregano P2 c water 10-O- SUNSHINE LEMON t 2 thyme Tb salt 2'i pounds ground beef 1 cup finely chopped green pepper 3cans (2 lb ) Italian Plum tomatoes (if you can find them If not use regular whole tamatoes 2 CHEESE ITS kT iOR cans tomato paste t basil 2 linoheonWa 5 4 c chopped parsley bay leaf crumbled Ground pepper sauce pot Remove Fry bacon until crisp in a wide bacon and all but two tablespoons of the fat Save bacn and extra fat Add ground beef, breaking it into small pieces Cook until well browned, stirring occasionally Stir in onion, green pepper and garlic, cook for 10 minutes Add more bacon fat if 1 six-qua- beef stew A 46-O- EARLY CALIF.
