He had asked council for approval to ask the businesses for money, but council members said they did not need to authorize the American Legion to do this. St -- 1; X. .i Though a city ordinance states that fire arms may not be discharged in city limits, the fire chief has sent council a letter stating that it has been the policy in the past to allow hunting in the western part of the city. The fire chief further stated that he has no objections to this practice. Council,' acknowledging that there are some rural parts of Roy, passed a motion allowing hunting (particularly pheasant hunting) in that part of the city. In ether city council action: ... Counpil passed a motion supporting the city planning commissions recommendation that the traffic which now may pass between the parking lot behind Western Auto on 5600 S. and the Food King Parking lot be allowed to continue. Planners for Food King have drawn up plans for a planter to run along the wall of Western Auto on the cast which will block the present opening between the two properties. The planning commission has recommended that the planter have an opening to allow the present traffic flow to continue through the area. Council has agreed to consider some of Councilman Larkin Pattersons recommendations to upgrade the city cemetery. Patterson has recommended that there be installed a fence along the north end of the cemetery along the canal which run3 along 5200 S. He further recommended that council consider blacktopping and installing curb for the road which runs through the cemetery. The possibility of a babyland will also be considered by the city. Patterson said they should make a place for babies where infants can be buried for a nominal fee. Council members have agreed to meet next Tuesday to go to Ogden Municipal Airport to study the proposed alternatives for airport expansion. City council wants to go over the plans with the airport planning staff and consider the effects of the proposals on Roy City.
