Show Chronicle Sun Sunset Stake News A WONDERFUL STORY you like to hear the story how the . . . there was a lovely lady and Mary was her name. A soldier knocked one morning on the door of Mary s house, and Mary went to answer it as quite as a mouse. He said I have come to tell you, you will have to go away, to write your name in the Kings big book and you had better go today. So Mary told Joseph, her husband kind and true, and he said, we must go at once for Gd must want us to. They took a little lantern although its light was dim, and saddled up the donkey and Mary sat on him. They took some fruit and sandwiches to eat along the way and for the little donkey they took a bag of hay. Mary had a parcel, and held it Oh so tight! It was tied with shinny ribbons and the paper was all white. And do you know what was in it? Well. . . you never could suppose, for Marys lovely parcel was full of baby clothes. She and Joseph had a secret that an angel told to them, that the little baby Jesus would be born in Bethlehem. He was Gods own son from heaven and wanted to come down to be our little King in Bethlehem town. So Joseph and Mary went straight to Bethlehem. But all the houses were filled right up, there was no room from them. Joseph kept on knocking on everybodys door, but you cant come in we have no they all said room for more. Joseph just said thank you and hear Mary tried to smile and the donkey kept on wishing he could rest his feet awhile. At last they found a poor old barn upon the hillside bare, and Joseph said dear Mary we will have to go in there. Of course dear Joseph, Mary said, for God knows what is best, if you will make it tidy Ill go right in and rest. And then while the stars were shining and the moon was bright the little baby Jesus was born Roy LDS News baby Jesus came? Here it is: When the little Christ was born in Bethlehem, not only the Wise Men came to offer gifts, but the birds, beasts and plants came, too, each one had something to offer the Little Jesus, excepting the pine tree. I It ha J nothihglo offer-ex-cept its needles, and they would only prick the Baby, and were not at all suitable. But God saw how disappointed the little tree was, and told some of the stars to go down and rest on the branches of the little tree. When the stars did, the little tree was covered with such radiance that when the Child saw it, He stretched out His arms toward it in happiness. From that time forth, at Christmas time, tne littlepine tree always bears lights which we place there in memory of the night it gave pleasure to the Christ child.
