At that time they were confronted with the task of getting approximately 25 residents registered for the upcoming elections. The direction was initially set by their staff and this set the stage for everyones in- volvement. In pursuring their objective, there were several difficulties which were encountered. Problems arose with residents who relocated at Odyssey House, people with felony conand victions last minute changes with the voting reHowever, quirement laws. with the assistance of the At torney Generals Office and the local county clerks, they managed to get every eligible voter registered. Having their residents registered to vote means more than a larger turnout at the polls; it is part and parcel of the teaching process at Odyssey. One of their prime goals is to mold useful and productive members of society and in doing so, a well rounded individual emerges and not just another statistic who completed a drug rehabilitation program. Electing public officials is fundamental to the American Polity and it is an integral part of ones responsibility as a citizen.
