A short time before leaving for home he suffered a broken leg and has fully recovered from the effects of that. Some months prior to this, the plane he was in was shot down and was in flames as it fell. He was shot through the leg and his lungs were injured due to the heat. He spent some time in the hospital and was awarded the Purple Heart. He has to report at Ft. Carson, Colo., June 1. where he will be assigned for the next four or five months when he will be released. Robert Wardleigh is seriously ill in the University of Utah hospital in Salt Lake City. Ann Day is hopsitalized in an Ogden hospital where she was taken last week when she became ill at school. She is a teacher at North Park School. Henry A. Garfield, owner of Matties Cafe in Roy died last week. His funeral and burial were held Saturday. Troop 391 Gives Girls Awards Troop 391 Junior Girl Scouts held a Court of Awards ceremony April 28 in the Fellowship Hall of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Special guests were parents and friends, Pastor Warren the Meyers, who represented Troop's sponsoring agent, and Mrs. L.J. Hillebrecht, advisor of the Troop. S' members received high awards Debra Rogers and Jeanne Wetterling received the Sign of the Arrow Awards. Martha Hicks, Jill Daily, Barbara Padgett and Becky Rhodes received both the Sign of the Star and the Sign of the Arrow. These two awards are the highest in Junior Girl Scouts. Two new girls were invested at this time. They are Debra C'laik and Nancy Mcore. Mrs Padgett gave a committee reort and a short talk on Sherry Willard badge work read the troop's calendar of events to the audience The girls explained how the awards were earned and about the Scout laws Mrs Gene Rhodes has taken a group of girls to instruct in earning the Dabber Badge.
