Wahlquist Junior High By Sharon Koga Wahlquist has always been known for its democratic methods of education. This years student-bod- y elections were educational as well as democratic. Candidates were divided into two political parties, the Golden Eagles and the Bald Eagles. The ballots were similar to the ballots used for our nations and state's elections. Each voterwas registered and then entered one of the voting polls to vote. All procedures were as elections take placf togay. Not pnly did the students elect Their new officers but they learned how to vote as our parents do. After all ballots were tabulated, an assembly was called to announce the new studentbody officers for the years of 1964-6They are: for president, Tom Markos; for vice president, Layne Powell; for secretary, Ann Whiting; and for historian, Brenda Crittenden. These students are all well qualified for their jobs and we know they can all uphold the standards of Wahlquist. The other candidates ran a good campaign and congratulations are in order to them also. On April 16 the Spartans came , to Wahlquist to play our opening l game of the season. For the team it was a victorious game. South gave us a real scare and put up a close fight Finally we managed to pull out in front and come out on top with a 1 victory. Our baseball team wasnt quite as lucky. Their game was also closely fought for. In the .last inning both teams were all 'tied up As they played in the top of the extra inning. South hit a whopper and brought in three of their runners. When we tried to match or pass South we just couldnt make it The- - game finSouth's favor. ally ended Congratulations to the fine game played team! The annual band competition between all county junior high's was held at Weber High School on on April 16. We are glad the way our Eagle Band came out with the number one rating. It sure saved us a lot of time and labor, so we completed our current system requirements with three more galvanized boxes. The Nielsen brothers will find more advantages of USS Irrigation Head-gate-s as, time goes on. These gates last because they're made of galvanized steel, which wont rot or chip. USS headgates are easy to move, too. Theyre made from three standard interchangeable panels that can easily be dismantled to modify or remodel your structures. Virtually any .size or shape of single or multiple channeling can be built with the three panels combined with gate and chute. Next time your system needs an overhaul or expansion, install USS Irrigation Headgates. See how easy it is. You wont have to measure and cut lumber, build form3, mix con crete, or wait for curing. With USS Irrigation Headgates, just select the site, bolt panels together, install the unit,- backfill and turn loose' the water. Ask your dealer about USS USS is a tradeIrrigation Headgates.
