Show u The T Roy Nows .I guess there has been a lot of activity around our fair city during the holidays. Among the most interesting things I heard about was the letter Mrs. Margaret Field receiver from William A. Dawson congratulating her on her 93rd birthday. He said that he could well imagine what Roy was like when the Fields first came here. He commented on her eventful life and treasured memories. He wished her continued health and happiness. It is really wonderful how in spite of her fall last year, she 'remains alert and interested in the happenings of the day. We join in heartiest wishes for a happy future for this true pioneer. Another exciting thing I heard about was the trip the C. J. Mon-sofamily took during the Christmas holidays. It was really a family affair as all the children went along. (Janice, Jerry, Kathy, and Jimmy). They left here on Dec. 18 for New York. They took to the airways In an. airliner. They returned by plane also. Highlights of their trip included a visit to the Museum of Natural History and the Hayden Planetarium, where they had the wonderful experience of hearing the story of the Christmas star and how the heavens looked in the time when the wise men saw the star in the East. They took a tour of the Uhited Nations building and visited Rockefeller! Plaza and heard the Navy Choir from Pensicola, Fla. At Radio City Music Hall they saw the Christmas spectacular. During their visit to the United Nations, they were priv- n BROASTED CHICKEN ileged to witness the United Nations in Action TV program. The chorus was made up of the families of the .representatives in the costumes of their native lands. Of course New' York at Christmas time is a sight to behold in itsself. Mrs. Monson said the windows were full of animated figures Cinderella etc. They were 2 to 3-- feet high and very colorful. The Mon-son- s stayed at the Waldorf Astoria and returned home Christmas night. Vance Ned Vaughn left on his return to Berkley after spending 10 days with his mother, Mrs. Melvin Peterson. Also visiting in the Peterson home was a classmate of Neds, Phil Keller of San Francisco. Ned still has the cast on his foot due to a fall at school and acquired one on his hand due to a mishap on the train. In trying to protect the cast on his foot, when the train lurched, he pulled the ligaments in his thumb loose. We hope he will be fully recovered soon. Bishop and Mrs. Arthur P. Brown, 5913 So. 1900 W., were hosts to a family Christmas Eve party for the members of their immediate family. It is the first time in nine years they have all been together at Christmas time. Their son Maj. Delas Brown and his wife and their four children, David, Pegy, Parry and Carolelee are visiting in Roy, prior to the Major leaving for an assignment in Okinawa. Hisjvife and family will join him wheih school is out. Those present at the Christmas party were, Mr. and Mrs. Frank (Ruth) Brown and their family; Mr. and Mrs. Lenze (ShirlejO Nelson and their children, the Major and his family and the host and hostess. Friday evening, Jan, 3, open house will be held at the Arthur P. Brown home, in honor of Major and Mrs. Delas Brown and their children, with special invitations issued to relatives.
