Lela, his wife, was driving him to work when they suddenly discovered smoke oozing from the drivers seat beneath them. A they stopped and started to investigate, gushing flames burst through the smoke. Shells Mr. Russell had in the car started to explode. A highway patrolman tried to quench the licking flames with his first aid fire extinguisher, but the aid of the fire department was required before the flames were subdued.
