Lynn Hadean Vern Dallin Vern L. Dallin, 68, of Lumberton, North Carolina, died on November 27, 2002 at the Southeastern Regional . Our dear sweet wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Lynn Taylor Hadean, returned to the loving arms of her Father in Heaven on Saturday, December 7, 2002 from complications of diabetes. Bom June 21, 1938 in Loa, Utah to William Hicks and Rosella Shurtz Taylor. Married Sidney J. Hadean on April 17, 1954 in Granite, Utah, later solemnized in the Salt Lake Medical Center in Lumberton. Vern lived in North Carolina for 45 years. Surviving Vern are his wife, Aree; a son, Curtis; and five daughters, Nell, Barbara, Betty, Sadie, and Vivian, all of Lumberton; four sisters, Ileene Robinson of Henderson, Nevada, Temple. Lynn was a special mother Betty Cram of St. George, Utah, Kathleen Lamb and Diane and grandmother, always putChamberlain, both of Page, Ari- ting her family first. She was an zona; 13 grandchildren and 19 excellent cook, and loved family and reunions. (Marcy) Hadean of Sandy, Utah, Greg Hadean of Kamas, Utah, Brad (Becky) Hadean of Sandy, Utah, Jennie (John) Brinkerhoff of Kanab, and Laura Hadean and fiance Thierry Willner of Kanab; sisters Shirleen Baxter, Karen (Merril) Stillman and Jean (Jim) Eakins all of Sandy, Utah; nineteen grandchildren and four and a half She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Lloyd and Ren Taylor, and grandson Cam Hadean. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 12, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. in the Kanab Utah South LDS Chapel. Viewings will be held Wednesday from 8 p.m. at Mosdell Mortuary and Thursday from 11:30-12:4- 5 p.m. at the Chapel. Hawkins Arthur Sanford Hawkins, age 85, died Thursday, December 5, 2002 in St. George, Utah. Bom September 26, 1917 in Romeo, Colorado to Ella M. Culler and Aaron Sanford Hawkins. He attended Adams State College, BYU, Western State, and CSU, then returned to Colorado where he taught math at Manassa and La Jara, Colorado. He became principal of La Jara Elementary, Director of Instruction for the North Conejos Schools, and finally Superintendent of the North Conejos School District, a job he enjoyed and held for many years. Arthur was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints. He served an honorable mission in the Western States Mission, and has seen all seven of his children serve honorable missions in their turn, as well as five of his grandchildren. He has one grandson currently serving in Mexico, one entering the Brazilian MTC shortly, and a granddaughter waiting for a call. He served in various other church callings including the Bishopric of the ManassaRomeo Ward at the time the Chapel was built. Bom October 20, 1955 in Las Vegas,, Nevada to Edward Herman and Phyllis Riggs Markgraf. Alex was a member of the Bermuda Ward of the LDS Church, and an Eagle Scout. He loved the hunting, fishand ing, camping. He always enjoyed the time he was able to spend in Kanab and Southern Utah. Survivors include parents Edward & Phyllis Riggs Markgraf ofLas Vegas; sister Becky (Gary) Wright ofLas Vegas; and niece Kjeresti Beard Thomas of West Jordan, Utah. He was preceded in death by sister Christy Turski. He was a member of the 5th Armored Division, fought at Normandy Beach and the Battle of the Bulge, and received five battle stars. He was once taken prisoner, but managed to escape.
