Roberts announced the release of the Wahweap Wastewater Management Upgrade Environmental Assessment (EA) for public review and comments. The proposed EA examines three proposed alternatives being considered as options for the treatment of wastewater generated within the Wahweap Marina area and analyzes the environmental impacts associated with the development and management of the three options. The document also addresses the recreational areas need to comply with the State of Arizonas water quality regulations and correct existing concerns and issues with the current facility. The preferred alternative that best meets the objects of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) is to construct a pipeline to the City of Pages W aste water Treatment Facility. This alternative is predicated on an agreement between the City of Page and the National Park Service. If an agreement and conditions cannot be met, a second alternative has been selected to effectively manage the wastewater and protect water quality expressed under NEPA. garding the EA and the proposed development options.
