Immediately following the program the Ward will serve the traditional Minersville Barbequed Beef Dinner as only Minersville can do It. The dinner will be complete with all the trimmings. Bring the family. It will be served in the Cultural Hall, and the prices are resonable. In Minersville With "Lest We Forget as the theme for the parade and program, both under the direction of the Minersville American Legion Auxiliary. The parade will start at 10:00 a.m. and floats are asked to be lined up by 9:30 on the street south of elementary school. Everyone is encourages to sponsor afloat. Horses, bikes and clowns are urged to participate. A program will follow the parade at the Minersville L.DJS. WardCul-tur- al Hall. In Milford The Junior Old Timers club relnds Individuals and organizations to begin planning and building their float for the July 4th parade In Milford. Everybody is invited to participate and make this the best July 4th parade. Chairman are Gloria and Richard McDermott, and you can call them to register your float at in 387-234- race track and a dance at at the the pavillion. 7. It helps if we know what floats to expect, Mrs. McDermott said, but even if you dont register In advance, we want you to enter a float. The parade starts at 10:00 a.m. and floats should be lined up at 9:00 a.m. to be judged before the parade. Following the parade at 11:30 there will be games and races In the park with concessions and that will be followed with a free swim. At dusk there will be fireworks In Beaver Beaver will sponsor a kids parade their big celebration scheduled for July 24th. The staff and especially the ol will appreciate your Redhead PRINCESS SHARON ROBERTS Sharon Roberts crowned County Dairy Princess and Dairy products were given as door prizes. Each contestant made a dessert which was judged and served. Allison Lowe won the outstanding dessert called "Grandmas Homemade Icecream. Miss Black remarked about her experiences the past year, and Eddie Smith and Karen Joseph each musical selections. Sharon will attend workshops, and promote Dairy Products, compete for the State title in February of 85. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Roberts. The Dairy Princess pageant was held Wed. night June 20, with Nanette Black; last years 1983 Beaver County Dairy Princess, crowning Sharon Roberts, Beaver, Utah the new 1984 princess. Last weeks races (unscheduled the week before) drew a fantastic crop of fine horses and riders and a good crowd, though there was little time for advertising the event. Rut the Beaver County Thoroughbred Horse Racing Assn, took the camelled Loa date, and put on ten exrellent horse races. Highlight of the day was the Dan Lindsay Memorial won by Undatable with Rrinkerhoff aboard. Living up to his name, Unbeatable, owned by Monte Marshall of fame from behind in the back stretch, broke in front coming out of tie turn, arid lead by tnree lengths at the wire. A blanket was presented the owner by It ha Lindsey, Danny, Carma, Bryfe, Jenny, Sf ott and Lois in memory at their husband and father. Purse was $700.00. Minimum purse for this race is $400.00. The Beaver Lions Dairy District Derby will be the next horse racing event at the Beaver Track on July and will highlight Beavers 24 Pioneer Day Festivities. Many added features will make this one of the big race meets in Utah in 1984. Three full days of racing capped by the derby with $2,000 added. Lions Dairy District Derby on July 3-24 at the Beaver Track. Purse for the George Marshall Stakes is estimated at $30,000. Action will shift to the Panguitch Race this Saturday, June 30, with posttime at 2:00 p.m., sponsored by the Panguitch Thoroughbred Assn, at the Panguitch track. Ten races will be run with the 21 i Mayor Christiansen opened sealed bids from the following companies for drilling a new well at Beaver Citys water storage tank: AAA Drilling, B and B Drilling, Grlm-sha- w and Sons and Anzalone Pump and Drill. After a review of the bids, it was the consensus of the City Council that the bids be submitted to Beaver Citys Engineer for review and his recommendation as to who should be awarded the contract. Attorney John O. Christiansen met with the City Council to discuss the lawsuit of Albrecht Construction Mr. Christiansen reCompany. ported that a trial date has been set for June 28, 1984, but the bonding company has decided to pa) R. A. Childs approximately $19, 000 for asphalt. Mr. Christiansen asked the City Council If they would dismiss their lawsuit against Albrecht ConstructlonCompany If Albrecht dropped their third party defendant suit against Beaver City. Beaver City will dismiss their suit when Beaver City gets all the neces- sary paperwork to close the grant with the Environmental Protection Agency. All voted in favor of the motion. Mayor Christiansen reported he had contacted Mr. John Powell of Johns Apparel and that Mr. Powell Intends to if he can make the proper arrangemnts to re open his business. It was the consensus of the City Council that Beaver City will try and work with Johns Apparel to get the business reopened. Councilman Hutchings reported that he and Gordon Baker met with Beaver County to request funding to help renovate the airport. The County Commissioners were supportive and would try to find funds in either this years budget or next years County budget. At 7:30 p.ro. Patricia and William Powell met with the City Council to request a donation to the LDS Church for the 24th of July celebration. Beaver City donated $250. re-op- en -- Church in care of Patricia Powell to be used for the 24th of July celebration. Mayor Christiansen presented the following individuals for review of the City Council and appointment to the Planning and Zoning ComMr. Mike Riley, Mr. mission: Ronald Roberts and Mr. Craig White Ronald Rolierts andMr.CraigWhlte. After review. Counci lmanGrlmshaw moved to accept the appointments of the above individuals to the Planning and Zoning Commission for a to the term LDS of two years. Margie and Denise are taking to the newspaper grind pretty good, and Madalyn while not back in the office is taking over the Milford in Motion column. Though they get little acknowledgement the Gruard Is a ready, active and well trained capable, group of fighting men. And with the volunteer army, Is certainly. If not our first line of defense, at least the second line. We salute these men who give one weekend a month, and two weeks a year, minimum to their country. o And it looks as if the ol Red- head Is going to get a vacation. Though not as long as wed like, the longest we've had since moving to Beaver County fifteen years ago this week. (Except for a few trips to the hospital.) So we ask your cooperation in meeting the early deadlines for the next two weeks In order that we can skip out after the Fourth and be back in time to give proper publicity and help on the 24th.
