Show WULFQRD IN Thursday, March 1, 1984 MOTION CALL On Wednesday, February 22, students and faculty of Milford ' Elementary School were entertained with the dress rehearsal of "Youre a Good Man Charlie Brown", in the MHS auditorium. From all accounts weve heard, the kids really enjoyed the play. (Teachers did too!) January and February must be new car months in Milford. For the past couple of years weve noticed a number of vehicles sporting new car stickers during these two months, and 1984 is no different. Some of those seen driving new vehicles include: Norm and Dixie Lamb, Johann Meyer, Ken and Sara Myers, Sir Father Valine, Arlan and Kristen Mayer, Harlan and Norma Thomas and Duane and Maureen Yardley. Celebrating her 8th birthday, Thursday, in a quiet way due to illness was Malina Mellor, daughter of Kent and Randee Mellor. It seems birthday parties will have to wait until next week when hopefully she will be "up and at em again. Kerri Maxey returned to school this week after her recent bout of sickness. She is looking good; and, we hope she feels good as ever. Her friends at school were glad to welcome her back. On Friday, members of the A1 Bealer family traveled toSLC, where he was to undergo by pass surgery. We extend our hopes for a fast recovery to Mr. Bealer. Recent visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Max Baxter included their daughter, Marie Heslington of Simi Valley, California, Ionas mother Sophie Bruno and brother Glendon C toward of Moroni. Max, Iona and Sophie drove to St. George and had breakfast with Marie, as she was on her way back to California. They visited friends in Hurricane and then went on to Virgin and had lunch with Maxs cousin, Georgia Allen. Friends and neighbors called on Max Thursday to wish him a Happy 75th birthday. 387-28- 31 i The following are the happenings at the Harold and Vvs Baxter home during the past month: Mrs. Bob (Bonnie) McIntyre from Fairbanks, Alaska, spent a month visiting with her parents. Upon arrival in Salt Lake City, she spent some time with the boys, Bill and family and Robert Vaughn. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Fotheringham drove up from Springdale and visited for a day. Jack and Gale And, by the way The have a new granddaughter. little miss was born February 10th in SLC to Mr. and Mrs. Jack She weighed Fotheringham, Jr. 7 lbs. 7 oz. and will be named Johannah. She joins a sister and brother at home, Jannice and Jed -all born in February. On the 13th Bonnie met a friend from Long Island, New York, Alice Frintzilas, in Salt Lake City and then they spent a week with Harold and Vvs. On Saturday, the 18th, Bonnie, Alice and Vvs drove to Springdale, and were joined at the Jack Fotheringham home by Dixon and Enid Fotheringham from St. George. They enjoyed the day visiting and taking Alice through Zion Park. Monday friends and relatives gathered at the Baxter home to celebrate Bonnies birthday. An enjoyable afternoon was spent visiting and eating birthday cake and ice The Arthritis Fund Drive is underway this week. A number of Milford residents drive to Cedar City at least once a month, taking their children over for dentalorthodontic work. Last week it was Madeline Davis turn to take daughter Mauritia and Angie Carter. - The 1984 Utah State DAIRY PRINCESS: Dairy Princess is Lana Houston (front) of Garfield County, chosen at the pageant during the recent convention of the Utah Dairy Industry in UTAH Mable Turner traveled to Salt Lake for her sisters 80th birthday last week. Margaret Grimshaw, JoAnn Lowe and granddaughter Kara Lee Lowe have recently returned from a visit Ogden. Her attendants are left to right Teresa Small, Shelley Barney, Stephanie Hills and Tricia Breitweiser. Texas. They left Milford and spent the night in St. George with Margarets sister, Alice and husband Henry Harriman. From there Alice and Henry took them to the airport in Las Vegas. JoAnn and Kara dropped Margaret off in Dallas and they continued on to Amarillo to visit her daughter Marie and Junior Hickman. Margaret had a lovely visit with her daughter LaDawn and family and reports that one of the highlights of the trip was her visit to the South Fork Ranch. Milford Elementary School will be holding Parent Teachers Conference on Wednesday, Thursday, and FriAs is usual, day of this week. school lunch will be served and school will let out at 1:00 p.m. each of these three days. Lacy Seifers, daughter of Ted and Brenda Seifers was admitted to Milford Valley Memorial Hospital Monday, suffering severe flulike symptoms. Student teachers from SUSC recently spent a week in the classrooms at Milford Elementary. Each class had one, who worked side by side with the regular teacher. As part of their training the student teachers had to take the class alone for one entire day with no help advice or assistance from anyone. In order to do this, the regular teachers went on a one day workshop to the Zions Park Visitors Center. Here they were given an educational tour, part of which included going down to the vaults -or specimen room. Mr. Robert Puffer, stated that in this area there were displays of all the mam- to Utah Opera to perform Also, during the month Bonnie was here, Max and lone Baxter treated Vvs, Bonnie and Alice to a lovely lunch at Helenes Dell, which was enjoyed by all. of Brad Lamb, The students at teacher MHS, presented seminary the program in the 2nd Wards Sacrament meeting Sunday. Lorin and Clysta Hutchings, former residents of Milford, are their Golden Anncelebrating iversary Saturday, March 3rd in Richfield. On Wednesday, February 29, the Stake High Priest dinner was held in Minersville. Also on Wednesday night the Scout banquet was held in Milford. The Second Ward Relief Society held their visiting teachers party Saturday February 25 at the LDS cultural hall. The program included a cute comedy skit entitled "Show Right and Seven Visiting Teachers (a takeoff of Snow White); several readings and musical selections by a ladies quartet. The first performance, "Sid the Serpent Who Wanted to Sing, will be presented to Milford andMiners-vill- e Elementary students at 1:00 p.m. Seating for this performance will be limited to elementary students. The second performance is at 2:00 p.m. and will be for high It will be brief school students. excerpts from a variety of operas -roost of which are in English, some in the original language. It will last about 40 minutes. Students and faculty are encouraged to "dress up for this occasion. An invitation is extended to the public to attend the 2:00 p.m. performance. He also noted that hopefully they will be able to take some of the students to this area on a field trip sometime in the future. At the annual convention of the Utah dairy industry and Princess Pageant held at the Ogden Hilton, Miss Lana Houston, representing Garfield County, was chosen State Dairy Princess 1984. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. Grant Houston and is currently attending Southern Utah State College in Cedar City. Along with being selected State Dairy Princess, she was also chosen by the other contestants as Miss Congeniality. This is the first time that the Dairy Princess was also given the honor of Miss Congeniality. Her attendants for the coming year are Teresa Small, Box Elder County, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John R. Small; Shelley Barney, Sevier County, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Blake Barney; Stephanie Hills, Utah County, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. LaMar S. Hills; and Tricia Breitweiser of Weber County, the daughter of Mr. andMrs. Jim Breit- Recent visitors at the home of Cliff and Lillian Cook have included Mrs. Cooks two brothers and their wives Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Jesse and Mr. and Mrs. James Jesse, from North Dakota. While here Jim and Sandy Jesse stayed with her mother, Mrs. Davis. Mrs. Jesse is a sister to Jack Davis and Dixie Lamb, who she also visited with. weiser. Each of the girls will serve for year, visiting elementary schools, promoting milk, cheese, and other dairy products, visiting with city, state and county officials and in general being goodwill ambassadors for the dairy industry. one Ar-bite- en Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Cook, and Mr. and Mra. Vernon Jesse recently spent about eight days in California. They first stopped in Death Valley for a couple of days, then traveled on to Indio, California for the Date Festival. Next they went to Loma Linda California to visit son Tom and his family. Enjoying some cross country skiing Friday with their mutual group were the following: Johnny e, Carter, Ralph Pectoi, Mark Piete Florence, and advisors Brad Lamb and Wayne Wiseman, Jr. They started skiing at the Boy Scout camp in the BeaverMountains and went from there. Its reported that there over 100 kids from all over enjoying their day on the mountain. On Tuesday, February 22, a "Daddy --Daughter Date was held at the LDS Ward cultural hall for the Merry Miss primary girls of the First Ward. For those 1, whose fathers girls ages were unable to attend, grandpas, older brothers, family friends etc., were recruited for the event. Games were played and each person made his own favorite sundae for dessert. One of the highlights of the evening was trying to guess who was who from the baby pictures. Each person attending was asked to bring a picture of themself as a baby. Fveryone, girls and dads alike had a very enjoyable time. Congratulations to Troy and Laura Pearson, who are the proud parents of their first child, a baby boy. Roldo Turner was reportedly doing better at the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City after suffering a heart attack Sunday, and being transported from the Milford Valley Memorial Hospital by Lifeflight. arowan Ramhlings Cor-bridg- 10-1- The Parowan Literary Club held its patriotic party on Wednesday, February 22 at the home of Mar- for garet Adams. the evening were Anna Lyman, Alice Haycock and Helen Stones. They served a lovely dinner. Howard Adams reviewed the life of our nations first President George Washington. Then the group played "Yahtzee. Barbara Burt and Jean Hendrickson were prize winners for the evening. The Clubs next meeting is planned for March 6 at the home of Alice Mitchell. Amber Johnson attended the Governors Youth Conference in Salt Lake City on February 23, 24 and 25. She was chosen as the only youth representative from Iron County to participate in this conference on drug and alcohol abuse. She has been active in the Parowan area Chemical People task force and also serves as Parowan High studentbody President. Amber is the daughter of Curtis and Lorraine Johnson.
