Show from Redwood by Steve Varley After a good baseball season, Redwood boys are starting football practice. The teams are sponsored by the Salt Lake City Public Safety Department who also sponsors teams from other community centers such as the Hacienda Youth Club, Kiwanis Boys Club, the Northwest Center and the Central City Community Center. Ken Crocheron, director of the Public Safety Department, said the reason the Department sponsors the football and baseball Multi-purpos- e One hundred and fifty youngsters participated in Redwood's first baseball program. The boy's team placed third in intercity play. teams, now 1600 strong, is . . "to give the kids a chance to play ball and also to come in contact with policemen, who work with them as coaches and umpires. This creates a better relationship than meeting them as delinquents later. Ken also said that future plans include swimming, track, soccor, basketball, vollyball and boxing, all organized through the Centers.
