Sixteen years ago Clara and Walter Drake started a nursing home in Salt Lake City to provide care for elderly folks who can no the Clarabell longer care for themselves. Today, the new, modern picnics and parties at the Clarabell Nursing Home operates 24 hours a day with a full consulting staff as a result of those years of hard work. "I enjoy helping old people, Clara added, "That hasn't changed a bit since started. Dunn your PAPER WRITE TO THE EDITOR TODAY! by Kirk Terry Edison Elementary School is the site of a new teacher training program focusing on "educating educators" in confronting the special learning problems of disadvantaged students. The program conducts the studies for teachers new as well as experienced ones. The new teacher education program is being administered by Weber State University, contracted by a grant from the Department of Housing and Urban Development. At present, the teachers that were selected, including new teachers from the various universities, became "interns formed into two teams and are participating in special seminars at Weber State. Those classes started June 12. When the program is taken into the target school, Edison Elementary, the two teams of the interns will be used in I I third and sixth grades. Team leaders will supervise the teaching. Hours spent by the "intern" teachers will be broken down to 60 percent in the school, 20 percent in the community meeting parents and the individual student environments, and 20 percent allotted for further standard university studies. The building is completely on the ground floor, making it easier for everyone to get around, and even incorporates a patio for the folks to be outside when they desire. The Clarabell Nursing Home is located at 1 25 South 8th West, (355-795- 1 ), and has facilities for 24 resident patients. Clara is now completing a course in nursing at the Utah Technical College to better serve her patients. THIS IS "educating educators" are due. DO use is your credit wisely. It money.
