Show For nineteen years, the River has been the topic of repeated studies and discussions. A recent study financed by the Salt Lake County Flood Control Funds and Salt Lake Model Cities was conducted by Urban Technology Associates and calls for a master plan for the comprehensive development of the River between 4800 South and the Davis County line. It also suggests a parkway concept and developing design principles for improving the visual appearance of the River and halting pollution. It was the conclusion of UTA and a premise of the study that the preservation of a large open space along the center of the Valley is desirable from every significant environmental consideration. The Model Cities Physical Environment Task Force and the Environmental Health Agency have long been concerned with the beautification of the Jordan River and expanding the recreational use of the River. A step in this direction will be taken Saturday, April 29, when a "Clean-uDay" for the River will be observed. Many community organizations have volunteered to work on this project. Interested individuals and groups who are not members of clubs already p involved will meet at the Northwest Center, 1300 West Second North, at 9:00 a.m. Leaders will make work assignments and direct volunteers to work sites.
