Recent concern about the dependency of man on his environment and the relationship of the environment to the community has awakened increasing local interest in the Jordan River. No longer can man pollute this extensive waterway or ignore the need to improve and develop the R iver. One need only take a boat trip downstream to see lefuse lining the banks. The debris causes a boater to recall the words of Ian McHarg: "Look at the unkempt industry, across the grassy railroad tracks and you will find the rotting piers, and there, the great river, scummy and brown, wastes and sewage bobbing easily up and down with the tide, endlessly renewed."
