Natureland Threatened f' Little Cottomvood A three and a half mile strip of natureland in Little Cottonwood Cany cm may soon be the sight of a 61 lot residential development. Doug Campbell, director. Salt Lake county planning, Tuesday, showed a map with an anal view of the lower part of Little Cottonwood Canyon to the County Commis- sioners. The map snowed a first phase plan for 61 lots to be developed, on both sides of the main highway to Alta. The land is privately owned at this time, but plans have been made to sell it to a California investment company for tf future development. This particular section of the canyon is zoned for forestry. In order to build a residence, the builder must allow 12 acre for each house. The California company has complied with this specification. The County Commissioners excitedly asked if there were some way to stop the development. It seems the county could put it on an official map and stop progress for a year. What asked about the map; Commissioner John Creer said its just a gimmick, used to harass people. It puts them off for a while, Commissioner Creer stated.
