Show Day Care Centers Mark Special Week With Open House Tours The fifteen day care centers Utah, currently serving 670 retarded and handicapped children, will hold open house Thursday, November 18, from 10 A M until noon, marking National Association for Retarded Children (NARC) week, November 14 through 21. According to Dr. Guy Richards, superintendent of the American Fork Training School, the public is invited to their open house to be held Sunday, November 21. Approximately 1,000 of these are at the American Fork Training School. Another 2,048 attend "special education classes in the public schools having facilities for the educable and train-abl- e. There are 670 children in the day care centers. This leaves a balance of 26,000 on home care. "There is a need for more day care centers in the state, Mrs Elggren stated. "There is also a need for recreational facilities, vocational training and sheltered workshops, she said.
