Show News School High KCPX TOP FORTY TUNE LIST Highland by Sue Fmier Sophomores and their sen tor "big sisters gathered in Highlands cafeteria Wednesday at 7 P.M. as the Highland Assock.ed Women presented their annual get acquainted tea entitled Around Highland In 180 Days." The program featured the Highland High Madrigals and a fashion show in irhich thirty-on- e Highland girls modeled current Jet set fashions from Adrien N Emllie. Accenting the theme, the Madrigals sang 'Around the World In 80 Days. They sere followed by the cheerleaders, who led the girls in the Ramble cheer and ten members of the pep club, marched down the ramp dis- playing this years uniforms. For the first time in Highlands history, two people will seniors play each lead, Brad Nygren and Jim McMur-ri- n will portray Professor Hill while Lana Kemp and Carol Brain will play the role of Marian. Mr. Allred said that he did this to develop the talent of these students, who have been prominent in drama since they were sophomores. Mr. Allred also stated that he expected different performances from each. However, he doesnt wish to establish a tradition. The cast consists mainly of seniors and Juniors. The only sophomore starring In the production is Craig Kotch. Host PTA The pep band, song and cheerleaders come early to initiate a pep leaders, For a half hour before classes start you can hear the enthusiasm throughout the halls and anyone can Join in the cheering circle in the main hall made up of ardent fans. All pep club girls must wear their official dresses so green loyally sprinkles the halls. The players lockers are decorated with good luck slogans. At lunch time gum drops are given to each tray, sporting spirit-rousin- g tags. For more important games sometimes the pep club will race through the halls In a snakelike formation shouting, "down with so and so" and "fight, go, win, Hillcrest." If you have not mustered some feeling by the end of the day then you are truly spiritless. Hillcrest' s Spanish Club began the year with a party planned by the old members. New members had to submit to gags. For example: Crlsco was rubbed over the faces of several boys, they were blindfolded, led to plates, and then quietly asked to blow with all their might. They were surprised to be covered with flour. Susan Chavis, the newly elected president, will guide rally.
