Got, manager of safety for Hercules powder "ompany r 1 a ll A- - LDS Church Appoints Seminary Assistant e Merrill D Clayson, principal of the Granite Seminary for the past 20 years, has been assigned as special assistant to coordinators Don Colvin and Charles Hobbs who the activities of supervise seminaries in Salt Lake City and Salt Lake Valley exclusive of the city, respectively. He will assist in the areas 7 duty, of Benn ett's Glass seminary buildings, grounds, custodians, libraries, and budgets The announcement of this new assignment is made by William E. Berrett, Administrator of Seminaries and Institutes of Religion of the Church of Jesus Christ of and Paint MERRILL CLAYSON called to preside over the Southern States Mission as its President. Married to the former Mary Maude Taylor, they are the parents of five children: Ethel, 38, is a graduate of the LDS Business College and is presently employed as secretary at the Deseret Book Store in Salt Lake City; Janice Larson, 35, resides in Firth, Idaho; David, 31, has his Doctoral Degree in Clinical psychology and is working on a research project in New York City; Paul, 25, is a graduate of BYU and Claudia Tophirv 23, is a graduate of University of Utah and a teacher in the Granite School District. Saints. Mr. Clayson has given 40 years of service tothesemln-ar- y program. He began his career as principal of the seminary at St. Johns, Arizona, in 1925. Since this time, he has taught at seminaries in Provo, East (Salt Lake City), He has also and Granite. served as principal of seminaries, inaddition toSt. Johns and Granite, at Midway, Idaho, and South (Salt Lake City). Born in Lakeshore, Utah, Mr, Clayson graduated from American Fork High School. His bachelor's degree and master's degree were both awarded by Brigham Young University, where he served as a student body officer in itis senior year. He has done further graduate work at the University of Utah and University of California and bolds a counseling certificate.
