Broadway Comedy The "secret top Broadway show promised to Utah audiences next season by Pi- oneer Memorial Theatre at the University erf Utah will be delivered in the form of the runaway Broadway comedy, Mary, Mary. By Jean Kerr, the author of "Please Dont Eat the Daisies, "Mary. Mary has called "Americas been greatest current comedy by America's cleverest comedy writer. The show, to be directed by PMT senior director Rob- ert Hyde Wilson, will be stag9. ed January Mr. Wilson is a natural choice to direct the show, too, because he was present when the comedy was exper- 20-2- iencing its first growing pains. He was named as a "director-observer in 1961 by The New Dramatist's Committee, Inc. of New York, when "Mary Mary was being readied for its Broadway opening. He spent nearly two months peering over the shoulder of noted Broadway director Joseph Anthony, studying his approach to staging the comedy and taking copious notes which he later submitted as a highly valued report. He was on hand for the first casting of the production, trythrough the outs to the jittery Broadway opening.
