Show ROCKY MpLNTAIN REVIEW, May 20. 1965 16 Southeast Scouts To Display Skills Six hundred smartly-dresse- d Scouts and their leaders from the Mt Olympus District will participate in the Salt Scout Lake Councils Saturday, May 22, .at the Utah Fairgrounds. District Scout executive Robert Reese said 33 Scout units signed ,up for the event this year, an increase of 23 units Alums Happy Birthday Honor Seniors over last year Four Cub Packs and 17 Scout troops will display their interests and skills in indoor booths In the outdoor display area, six troops and one Cub Pack will host exhibits Troop 525 from East Mill Creek 2nd Ward will display plastic tents and Troop 659 from Holladay 22nd Ward will present a gun safety activity. All indoor and outdoor booths will open at 1:30 P.M. Four groups are entered in the Talent Hunt which begins at 2 P.M. Troop 304 will stage a folk singing group Kim Lundeberg of Troop 342 will play a piano solo; Clark of Troop 429 will sing. Each senior girl was presented with a gardenia carsage tied with silver and bordeau ribbon and a sterling silver bookmark The buffet table was centered with a spring floral arrangement and lighted silver tapers. Places were set for over 50 members and guests. Installed as new president of the alumnae group was Mrs. F. Allan Fletcher. The Utah Youth Symphony was founded by its permanent conductor, Robert Lentx, in September of 1959. These two violinists became members of the Utah Symphony and Mr. Brown, a student of Gladys Gladstone, won the National Merri weather Post Competition Award. That first morning Maurice Abravanel and LeRoy Robertson were the first guests to hear the orchestra play. Since that time twenty players have gone into the Utah Symphony and two others into the New Orleans Francisscatt, Grant more than 50 concertos with young players. Over 300 musicians have been members of this orchestra during the past six years. The compliment of the orchestra this year Is 102.
